Hi 1Dad, 1 Kid, glad you got to see Poland and enjoy it. In fact, it seems you backpacked more of Poland than I did, despite spending over a year in the country. Safe travels. Jonny

You were going through some stuff from what I recall. Hope you’re feeling better now.

I love returning to Krakow, the city’s got it all. I’ve visited Warsaw briefly and took a train to and hitchhiked from the Lithuanian border. In general, though, Poland hasn’t been too high on my list of destinations – it’s too flat for this mountain lover (the majority of the High Tatras is in my native Slovakia, so there’s no reason to visit the Polish side). But I’d still love to visit the coast and Lublin, for its history.

I’m heading to Wroclaw for the Angloville programme in 2 weeks. Did you go up into any of the mountains?

No, we didn’t. We only had a couple of days in Wroclaw because we were itching to get back to Czech.

Been to Poland last fall and it’s so awesome to be there. Everything is so interesting especially the season. It’s colorful everywhere and I just love to be back in the place maybe next year.

I haven’t been but it’s definitely high on my list! I met so many wonderful Polish people while I was living in London and the history is just fascinating.

SO much history! I know other neighbor countries have a lot, too, but it seems to be much more alive there.

Wroclaw was our favorite too! We really loved Poland, but it’s been high on my to do list for twenty years… (We also loved Czech, especially Olomouc!)

Czech is wonderful. I really love almost all of the places we’ve been here.

you must have been unlucky with the border control as it hadn’t happened to me for years and I’ve been crossing that border (Bohumin/Zebrzydowice by train) at least 10 times each year…
winter isn’t the best time to visit Poland and I think you should return here when the weather gets better and people stop being that grumpy. we just tend to hibernate when it’s cold and dark.
and did you know Łódź used to be second biggest Polish city not a long time ago, I’d say still 10 years ago? But then the unemployment became too big there and people just moved out. Too bad, it’s a pretty nice city

It wasn’t a big deal. The train kept moving. The immigration officers boarded and checked passports and IDs as we went along. When leaving Wroclaw by bus for Prague. Immigration boarded the bus and went through everyone’s documents as well. Wasn’t like we had to go through a big formal process or anything.

I knew Lodz used to be a lot more “important” but didn’t know it had been the 2nd largest. Wow!
