    What an inspiration you are!

I’m dreaming about travelling the world as well, seeing different places, different kinds of cultures and becoming a citizen of the world where everywhere feels like home.

You my friend have done what so many don’t by not procrastinating and taking action! You did what you set out to do and no matter how things turn out, nothing and nobody can take that away from you

People like you are the real heroes, the ones who inspire by creating their own reality.

I wish you and your kid a great adventure!

P.S. I’m originally from Morocco but you have seen more than what I have seen so you inspired me to do some travelling there soon πŸ™‚

Do let me know if you ever make it to Andalucia, Spain. Would love to meet you both, and may even offer a couch! Have just started following your journey and have great admiration for you. I wish I could do the same but I’d need to ditch my husband first (sorry, British humour)! Happy travels.

Such a cool thing you’re doing. Β I think most of us have kids and become afraid to decouple from the matrix. Β Good luck.

Thank you! And I believe you’re right. Some people also have a misconception that once you have kids you can’t travel.

Out of curiousity, what kind of work are you planning on doing while travelling? I would love to do something like this but am trying to figure out how. Thanks!

I do some writing, but most of my income is coming from medical transcription. When we are staying put somewhere for a long period, I’ll also plan on teaching English.

This is an amazing itinerary – I would love to do the same. However, I am wondering, and I hope this isn’t too personal, but where are you getting the money to do all of this traveling? Four days in Mexico cost me nearly $2000 between flights, rooming, and sight-seeing. This trip is my dream, but I could never afford it… *sad face*

It’s all in how you travel. We’re going during low season, so for 2 people our airfare was about $430 total. Couchsurfing saves you lodging costs, and hostels and guest houses are fairly inexpensive. Taking organized tours will cost you a LOT more than hiring a local guide. Avoiding tourist restaurants and places also saves you significant money. For instance, in Peru the restaurants in the tourist section averaged about $10 a meal or more, but a few blocks away the same meal would cost me $2-3. Breakfast in many places was about $8, but I ate for $2. I’ll also be working while we travel.

We’ll see. We won’t be there until around Oct & a lot can change by then. Plus the probs are mostly in Cairo, and there’s more to Egypt than Cairo.
