We have only been on a 12 hour long layover trip to Amsterdam and not been able to experience near as much as you two did. I think staying on the houseboat would have been great. I use AIRBnb a great deal of the time and have seen boats but never really considered one. I think I will in the future. Glad you enjoyed it so much. We are in the Georgian Republic for the winter. The prices here are fantastic, a beautiful Airbnb for $425 a month, cheapest food in the stores even better than SE Asia. The best part is they give U.S. citizens 12-month visa-free stays. Keep writing and I will keep reading.

They still offer the 12-month visas? When I had checked last it looked like they changed that which stunk. I’m glad they’re currently doing it. Georgia is one place I still need to visit. Glad you’re enjoying it!

Nice to read one of your postings again, Talon! We too were pleasantly surprised by Amsterdam (only one day there) and The Hague (sadly, only four days). We had five days to fill on our way to Germany, and ohhhh, how I now wish we would have scrapped the plans for Germany and stayed in The Hague! If you ever get back to the area, The Hague is under an hour train ride from Amsterdam, and it is such a beautiful and historical city! The sea and the incredibly friendly Dutch (very surprised and overwhelmed by their hospitality after world travels where some countries’ peoples weren’t so nice) make this a place where we could have stayed indefinitely! My whole life as a Canadian, I’ve heard how warm and helpful the Dutch are, but I didn’t truly believe it until I experienced it. History, fun family friendly things to do and the people are what really makes or breaks a place for us. Looking forward to more postings from you Talon, and hope that you are both well and happy to have settled in to your home base.

It is such a great country and so much to love about the culture! I want to go and explore the country more for sure.

Tigger is enjoying being settled. Me not so much. It’s almost been a year!
