    Hey Talon,

Really enjoyed reading this! I love how honest you are about Puerto Vallarta — it’s nice to hear both the good stuff and the not-so-great parts. The way you described the sunsets and that whale sighting totally makes me want to visit, even if it’s a bit touristy.

I’m curious though — would you still recommend staying in 5 de Diciembre over Zona Romántica for a first-timer, or does it just depend on the vibe you’re after?

Thanks for keeping it real — your posts always feel like chatting with a well-traveled friend.

It really depends on the vibe you want. ZR is very touristy and can also be loud. If you’re wanting a more energetic, let’s party kind of vibe, where there are lots of people having a good time often into the late of night, ZR would be better.

Glad you enjoyed the article. I only believe in keeping it real. 😉

I think you nailed the PV situation–I feel the same!

I imagine I’ll like it. Perhaps that will be my next trip to Mexico

Puerto Vallarta is indeed a popular destination, especially during high season.

I believe you perfectly captured the PV scenario—I agree!

If you were to visit Guadalajara, I wonder what you would think.

Definitely try Guadalajara when you get a chance. I’m one of the few gay men who isn’t thrilled by Puerto Vallarta. I prefer traveling to places where the environment isn’t dominated by people from my area. PV is a gay travel hot spot for a lot of men from the Pacific Northwest.

Depending on how you feel about nudity, I’d recommend Zipolite on the Oaxacan coast. It is Mexico’s only legal nude beach and the vibe is much more chill.
