In reply to <a href="http://1dad1kid.com/visiting-underrated-puebla/#comment-614383">Thiago</a>.

Puebla was kind of the birthplace for a lot of Mexican cuisine, so it did offer a very different food scene than what is found in CDMX and Oaxaca.

We're super light packers so I can't really say how it would be with heavier luggage. Overall, though, from what I saw I feel like it would still be fairly walkable. Occasionally you have a more narrow sidewalk, but I think you'd be all right with either choice.

What a fantastic guide to Puebla! Your passion for the city’s food and culture shines through—I’m now dreaming of mole poblano after reading about El Mural de los Poblanos. The tip about the Capilla del Rosario is gold; I’d never have guessed such a stunning chapel hides behind such a modest entrance.

Question: As someone who also loves food tours, did you find Puebla’s culinary scene noticeably different from other parts of Mexico? (I’m curious how regional dishes compare to what’s served in CDMX or Oaxaca.) Also, how walkable did you find the historic center with luggage? Planning a similar trip and debating whether to pack light or bring my usual ‘overprepared’ suitcase!

Your point about chatting with the Cabify driver resonated too—those unplanned local interactions are often the most memorable parts of travel. Thanks for putting Puebla firmly on my radar (and for the Nineka tip—adding that to my kit immediately!).

Your take on visiting Puebla is spot on! It’s so refreshing to hear how much you enjoyed your time there and that you truly embraced the city beyond just a quick day trip. Staying for a week must have been an incredible way to soak up Puebla’s charm, culture, and especially its amazing food scene. Your advice to spend at least 2-3 days is perfect—it’s clear that Puebla has so much more to offer than most people realize. Thanks for encouraging others to slow down and really experience this beautiful city!
