Nice to see another single dad traveling with their kiddo! We had a similar situation in Ecuador when I got waylaid by a strong virus. Thankfully, we were staying in a hostel that had a restaurant. The staff and a fellow guest took Tigger under their wing, kept her occupied, made sure she got fed, etc. Otherwise, it would’ve been really rough as I couldn’t be away from a toilet for about 3 days.

I am also a single dad who lives nomadically with my child and I often neglect my own health as well. I got to Hong Kong a week ago and the air quality here attacks my asthma like no other. I think we need to remember as single parents that our health is vitally important while traveling because we often don’t have anyone to help us when we’re sick. I had food poisoning last month in Thailand–thankfully my daughter didn’t get it even though we ate the same food–and I was certain that I was going to die in the bathroom and my daughter would starve to death with no one to help her. It was a scary 16 hours.
