You probably remember that in mid-June we endured 30 hours of bus rides to go from Olón, Ecuador, to Lima, Peru. Both of us were dreading the ride. I was probably even more reluctant than Tigger since our last really long bus ride was a very rough experience. The ride felt a little less daunting, though, as soon as we boarded and got settled in a bit. Tigger quickly decided this was “the coolest thing I’ve ever seen” and easily forgot that the next 27 hours of his life would be spent in this bus, minus the two border crossings and one extra random Customs search (as we passed through a more dangerous section of northern Peru) while grasshoppers pounced all over our bodies.

Mate, I gotta say what you’re doing with your son is awesome. He is gonna grow up to be a solid man with all these experiences.

Thanks! It will be interested to see how all this affects him in the long run.

I remember those buses. They terrified me! The way they took the corners at race car speed….let’s just say I’m not as keen to get back on one anytime soon 🙂

Luckily this one didn’t have any major corners, but I vividly remember the overnight bus from Bogota to Medellin and was quite glad I was asleep for most of it. Oy!

Yes to both. LOL

When I was in South America I was at first spoiled by the buses in Argentina, humbled by the ones in Bolivia and relieved to be on some half decent ones again in Peru…LOL

Yeah, that’s kind of how I felt about Colombia after the buses in Guatemala and Honduras.

Didn’t try them in Peru, but the buses in Argentina were amazing – they even had wi-fi

I love when a bus has WiFi, esp if they also have a plug-in so you can charge your device. Our bus from Bogota to Medellin was like that and was just awesome.
