My friends and I arrived off the plane in our kilts much to the amusement of the Poles. The food was great, the atmosphere was great, the beer was great, the culture was great, everything! I climbed a mountain taller than anything in the UK one day (although had to give up near the summit as the path was iced over and impassable). The Christmas market was lovely. And the sheer amount of history on top of that made it a solid place to visit, so I’m really glad you got to go an enjoy it there. My all time highlight was the salt mine – truly one of the most magical places I’ve ever been.

We both got ill, which sucked and meant we didn’t do much, but it seemed like a really nice city, and I’d love to go back…in summer or autumn next time, though!

I like that it has so much culture and history, but doesn’t have the prices of Western Europe, and it really does seem to be beautiful.

And I’m glad to hear that the food is not as bad as either of us thought! My few experiences with Polish food have been underwhelming to say the least, so it’s encouraging to hear it’s better locally!
