Exactly! Actually, statics show you are more likely to receive fatal injuries at home than anywhere else. So travel is safer. :D

I have never been anywhere within days of a terrorist attack but have been some places a few months later - I didn't cancel my plans. My partner and I will not let evil people stop us from doing the things we want to do. I have survived my travel injuries but they have all been self inflicted when I fall down stairs etc. If at some point I don't survive a trip due to natural causes, tumbles or bombs etc I am sure all my friends and family would accept that I was off doing something I love. It is sad that the actions of a few can have an impact but am happy to hear that the people of Brussels have bounced back - have not been there for decades but it is a beautiful place.

I had everything ready to head to a festival in France last January when the Paris attacks happened last November. But I didn't really think on cancelling, ever — as the news of the days after the attacks confirmed, Paris pretty much returned to normal quickly (albeit with much more military personnel everywhere). But it wasn't (and still isn't) a war zone. People doing their everyday things as always. Since I'm also fond of Brussels I went there for three days without any incidents. The fact that the Belgian/French people refuse to fall prey to terror menaces is a very comforting one. I could roam around the globe without a hitch and still split my head open in the stairs of my own home. Life is just like that.
