Cool blog. I read a lot of travel blogs, but I like that your a single dad taking an adopted son around the world. Good for you! I have worked with high risk kids from the foster system, so I related to your story. Keep it up.

Good Indian food in Cancun? I never would have guessed! I stayed downtown for a few days once and that was okay (found the best tacos I’ve ever had anywhere downtown!), but I still preferred the Riviera Maya. Though I can imagine it was a good change if you had already been spending some time at the beach!

Yet another vote for…

Yes, yes, it seems in most any corner of the globe – no matter how much of a tourist magnet, the “tourist trail” is very narrow indeed. But a few blocks wide, and one can easily escape it by simply walking a block or three down most any side street, away from the big hotels, overpriced restaurants, and annoying hawkers.
