Surfing

Surf’s Up encouraged me to go surfing. I wanted to do it while we were in Ecuador. I wasn’t sure I would like it because I didn’t know if it was going to be safe, so I was a little afraid. First thing you do is exercises on land. My first time surfing I constantly …

Tigger’s photo: The stinky place

Tigger the Surfer Boy

Ever since we began our journey, Tigger has been gung-ho to take surfing lessons.  Cozumel’s waves were great for body surfing and Boogie boarding, but that was about it.  Utila . . . stick with diving there.  So once we were in Ecuador and I discovered their coast had good surfing, we headed there to …

A Joining of Civilizations–Ecuador’s Only Inca Ruins

Ruins at Cojitambo

While living in Cuenca, Ecuador, we heard about the only Incan ruins in Ecuador.  I love visiting ruins, and these are a bit unique, so I couldn’t resist.  A local Spanish teacher was taking a group of people on a day trip that sounded wonderful, and we decided to join her and a handful of …

A slice of paradise on Ecuador’s coast

We came to this area for Tigger to take some surfing lessons.  We “discovered” this little beach town (Olón) while staying at a nearby resort and immediately fell in love with it and moved there after our stay at the resort was done.  Tigger and I both agreed this town has made it onto our list …

The good life of the Ecuadorian coast

I thought this view would be really cool to share with you.  It′s from our room at the Samai Lodge outside of Olón, Ecuador.–Tigger

Tigger took this at the open-air market and thought you would all enjoy seeing it. (Next time he has to do his own description!)

A taste of indigenous Ecuador

We recently went to visit Cañari (pre-Incan) and Incan ruins outside of Cuenca. This photo is a door an indigenous home.  One of the most photogenic doors I’ve ever seen. For more photos of Cuenca and some of the nearby ruins, check out our Facebook page.

Monday photo

This was taken during our time at the Basilica del Voto Nacional in Quito, Ecuador.  I saw the shadows and thought this just might make a good picture.  What do you think?
