For the Schengen Zone, it’s definitely more complicated. It’s one reason we haven’t done a lot of sits in Western Europe. You would need a longer-term visa in those areas in order to do a sit that goes beyond the Schengen time. Occasionally, there are little workarounds you can do, but those aren’t without risks.

Awesome stuff! I do have a question about long term house sits. Do you have to have a special visa or residency permit? I’m a US citizen with a US passport. I know for most of Europe, you can only stay for 3 months and then you have to go outside the Schengen area for 3 months. Do you just hop in and out of countries/Schengen area before your tourist visa expires?
