Hi Jody i am curious how it all worked out for you? Were you able to get your tickets and if I may ask what was the price? I’m traveling from Spain as well to Tangier and onto Marrakech.

If you’re planning on buying in advance, you can probably buy your ticket online. I’m not 100% sure, but it did seem like that was an option when we traveled.

There are some private compartments in first class, but they tend to fill rather rapidly as there are few. Alternatively, you could try to buy tickets for all four beds in one compartment.

I was wondering if there are any 2-bed options in the Maraqesh-Tangier night train. (I’ll be traveling with my wife and we’d rather not have strangers in our compartment)

That shouldn’t be a problem at all. If you were in a wheelchair, I’d suggest an alternative. But a walking stick shouldn’t present any trouble at all. The space in the couchettes is ample enough for you to be able to move around, and the toilet areas are big enough as well. I really wouldn’t have any reservations about it at all.

The first one we ever took was heading up to Chang Mai in Thailand a few years back and it definitely beats the bus hands down! They also had the “open toilets” and there’s nothing quite like watching the world pass by you a few feet down. Beats a magazine any day! 😉

Thanks! Yes, it really was fun. I actually am looking forward to the next long train trip. Something you’ll never hear me say about a bus trip, even if it’s only 3 hours. LOL
