My favourite arrondiseement is definitely Montmartre, and knowing they have hotels with dishwashers (!) makes me like it even more!

In reply to Patti. Sacre Coeur is my favorite church. The first time I went was in spring, so there were tons of outdoor cafes, artists doing paintings, etc. Really endeared itself to me. That area is just so freaking cool!

In reply to Cassie. There are some very interesting ethnic neighborhoods there. Our first place after Montmartre had a large African population with some cool restaurants in the area, but Chateau Rouge sounds quite interesting, especially the market.

Visiting Sacre Couer and the village of Montmartre was one of our best days in Paris. When we walked out of the cathedral we discovered it had begun to snow the most hugely fluffy white flakes and it continued to snow all afternoon. The village square was absolutely picture perfect and we took some of our best photos that afternoon. It was truly magical!

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Belleville! We are renting a place just south (I think?) of there in a neighborhood called Ménilmontant when I visit next month. I’m fascinated by the cultural fusion of immigrant communities in other countries, so I’m excited to explore this market! There’s also an African market near metro stop Chateau Rouge (as I found out from another AirBNB listing I was considering) that I want to check out.
