First thing you do is exercises on land. My first time surfing I constantly kept falling. My second time it was like I could fly.

You should learn to surf so if you go on vacation and they have surfing you can do it. It’s a really fun sport, and Ecuador is the place to do it because the waves are good for learning.

What did you think when your dad first told you about his idea for the trip?

I liked it.

Were you afraid at all?

No.

What are you looking forward to the most?

Going to Thailand because it’s awesome!

How do you know Thailand is awesome?

Because I saw a video, and it was awesome!

What do you think about spending 2 or so years traveling through Central & South America?

It interests me because it’s going to be pretty cool. There will be jungles and giant spiders.

Is there anything you don’t like about the idea of this trip?

That I’ll have to leave my friends behind, and we have do a bunch of cleaning.

How do you deal with leaving friends behind?

I just spend a lot of time with them. I’ll have pics to remind me of them.

What activity are you most excited about doing while traveling?

Scuba diving!

What do you like about scuba diving?

You get to see all the fish, sharks. Maybe probably I’ll see tiger sharks.

What’s been the hardest part about getting ready to leave?

Cleaning! [Dad pretty much agrees!]

What do your friends think about your trip?

They’re really happy for me. Some are jealous.

How do you feel about being homeschooled instead of going to regular school?

A little bit happy but worried I might get lonely.  [I thought this was interesting because he has been begging me to homeschool him for about 2 years now.]
