We are currently living in Bacalar. If you haven’t been, it’s a must see in QR. Things are quiet this time of year, but the weather and lake breezes are lovely. Check out our blog for more information.

Since you’re “unsettled” for Juky go check out Majahual. It’s about 4 hours south along the border with Belize. It’s about as undeveloped as Playa del Carmen was 25 years ago. In fact, most of the expats there are Europeans, especially Italians, who seem to always blaze new trails before the Americans arrive en masse.

Also check out Isla Holbox. You can take the bus to a spot in the sand called Chiquila and then a ferry to the island. There are few gas vehicles there. Most transpirtation, including taxis, is by golf cart. It’s a great launching point to swim with the whale sharks.

Good to learn your travels went reasonably smoothly. Private anything is usually pretty awesome and sure helps to spoil one quickly! I’ll be interested to read upcoming posts about Playa and how you’re settling in. I imagine it will be quite a different experience once you settle into the house.
