I fell in love with riding the metro while in Paris several years ago. While visiting a friend in Virginia, I had the opportunity to go to Washington, DC, and we rode the metro while touring America’s capitol. I loved the energy and vibe as well as the performers. I was a bit nervous taking this photo because DC was gearing up for Obama’s inauguration and sometimes security people are a bit. . . touchy about people taking photos of places like underground train stations. Thankfully, no one said a word or looked at me oddly when I whipped out my camera and fired off a shot, and I wasn’t greeted by men in dark suits wearing sunglasses as I got off the train. It is one of my favorite photos.
